Many of you reading that word think of resveratrol and flavonoids. Maybe you think of the culture of wine in Europe or Spain. Here’s the thing, and I hate to break it to you, but wine is not a health food.
Alcohol is not a health food.
If you have one or two glasses of wine a week, it’s probably not going to be really detrimental to your health. But any more than that, you’re starting to get into an area where it’s not good for your brain.
It’s worse for women. A study done at Harvard showed that women who had one glass of wine every night actually radically increased their risk of breast cancer.
This is because alcohol increases the wrong kind of estrogen, the kind that is cancer-promoting. Higher levels of the wrong kind of estrogen increase women’s risk for breast cancer.
Alcohol, bad. Grapes, good. Did you just have an ah-ha moment?
Did you know that you can also get health-giving flavonoids and antioxidants for your heart from dark chocolate and green tea?
Replace, don’t erase.
And what about those wine-drinking French? Did you know that over 50% of them do not drink wine every day?
The French and their wine just makes a good headline.
Many Americans read that wine is good for their health, so what do they do? They drink more than they should.
Hey, more is better, right?
Walking a few miles every day a few times a week is good for us. Walking 20 miles a day every day can lead to stress fractures, and then it can lead to chronic inflammation.
More is not always better.
If there’s one word you need to keep repeating to yourself, as if your life depended on it, it’s “moderation.”
Because you know what? Your life does depend on it. For those of you who drink wine more than three times a week, you need to watch this video.

Most of us associate caffeine with coffee, but it can also be found in tea, dark sodas, chocolate, and energy drinks to name a few.
Boy, do some of you really love your coffee!
I like the idea of coffee, but NOT the idea of all that caffeine running through my body like a bunch of delinquents running through a neighborhood.
Anxiety, depression, addiction, dehydration, and disrupted sleep are connected to caffeine intake. These are the reasons why you don’t want to consume huge amounts of caffeine on a regular basis. If your caffeine intake is limited to one or two normal-size cups of coffee or two or three cups of tea a day, it probably is not a problem. But any more than that can be hazardous.
Ladies, you want a nice cup of Joe but without too much of the caffeine.
