Doctors are paid big bucks by the pharmaceutical companies to promote and sell their drugs, you’d be hard-pressed to find a doctor who will ask you about your diet and if you are taking supplements.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not opposed to medication when it’s called for. I’m certainly not opposed to physicians. Heck, I’m married to one. I’m simply opposed to the indiscriminate use of medication at the expense of teaching people simple lifestyle interventions that are proven to prevent many illnesses. Please hear me clearly… I’m not telling you to go off your medication! You must seek the help of a physician before making medication changes.
But the fact is many Americans spend excessive amounts of money seeing physicians when they are ill instead of seeking advice to stay well! Some simple nutrients are often at the core of boosting our immunity and improving overall physical function.
Vitamin D, for example. Did you know that many people show signs of depression due to a D deficiency? This is a health problem that doctors and public health officials are just beginning to recognize.
Vitamin D deficiency has also been linked to obesity, diabetes, dementia, and autism. Many physicians prescribe anti-depressants instead of asking you about your diet and if you are on a supplement routine.
Can you imagine being put on an expensive prescription—that may give you side effects’ when all you may need is a little more vegetables, protein or simple nutrient replacement in your diet?
In this week’s video, let’s talk about your supplement routine for prevention, starting with the basic supplements, and then going up to the less common.
One of the questions I got was about my supplement routine.
I will tell you the basics that I recommend for everyone, and a couple of the extra things that I take, and why they might be good for many of you.
About 80% of you reading this right now do not have enough of this one mineral, which is why many of you are feeling exhausted, and why you are having hormonal problems. It’s called the “invisible deficiency” by some in the health field because it’s so hard to spot and diagnose. Being deficient in this mineral is more dangerous than you may think. It affects everything from your heartbeat to your muscles to your hormones.
